MISS TEEN INC.
fostering Korean Identity through traditional arts and culture
Heritage is a framework for meaning-making: it offers symbols, values, and histories that we can deconstruct and reinterpret in the present. My organization Miss Teen Inc. aims to build a space where Korean identity is continually made, negotiated, and carried forward by a younger generation of Korean Americans. In this context, the performance of art becomes a site of praxis, where tradition is not simply represented, but actively practiced, tested, and revised through the body. Identity isn’t inherited as a finished script; it’s produced through repeated, shared acts of making.

Our Initiatives

Annual Miss Teen ChungHyang Festival
The Chunghyang Festival is an annually held festival where we celebrate the spirit of chunghyang through a day of traditional korean music and dance performances and a pageant where young Korean American women compete to showcase their musical and artistic talent. Through this even, teens can engage with Korean culture in a way that feels alive and personal, in order to build confidence, connection, and pride. The ChungHyang festival invites the next generation to carry culture forward with their own unique styles and interpretations.
