Dinner Is Not Over

Inspired by the thematic motifs in classical Greek and Roman mythology, this installation criticizes the tragedy in the chase of perfectionism. At the scene of a lavish dinner, the food, my achievements, have been spilled all across the floor, unable to be eaten. An empty chair and a discarded napkin hints at the frustration of an unseen figure, myself, who is unable to partake in the meal. A skeletal form of a fish, the empty cornucopia, hangs above the scene, representative of chasing something with everything you have, believing it will bring fulfillment—only to achieve it and feel emptiness. Through “Dinner is Not Over,” I wanted to tell the story of my chase for perfection in my academic and personal life.
